Recent visit to Shegaon

I recently visited Shegaon last month. Below is a summary of my experiences:

I have been a regular visitor to Shegaon since a decade. As Shegaon railway station has become a halt for all the trains passing through the region and has excellent connectivity with major cities like Mumbai and Nagpur, travelling to Shegaon has become very easy. On reaching Shegaon in the morning I checked into the Bhakta Niwas. At around 8:30 I went to the main temple and took darshan at the temple. After performing the abhishek I was in the queue for the darshan of the samadhi of Shri Gajanan Maharaj. As there was not a long queue that particular day darshan was quick and went off very well.

At around 11 we had aarti for half an hour in the other temple. One thing really commendable about this temple is the way the management has maintained the temple. There is a very good discipline everywhere to make sure that everything is done in an orderly fashion. There are volunteers of the sansthan who are busy in constantly making sure that the temple is extremely clean. I would not hesitate to say that they are extremely courteous in helping out people and guiding people to various parts of the temple. Also in the main part of the temple where there is an area reserved for people to read the pothi there is absolute silence maintained at all times to see that the people can pray in peace.

Outside the temple but within the complex there are shops where garlands, prasad and various other articles that can be offered are available. Once outside the complex there are a few hotels where people can have meals and stay. The accomodation where I stayed was the Bhakta Niwas. There are approximately five to six(don't know the exact number) Bhakta Niwas where people can stay. The rooms are extremely comfortable and very well maintained considering the nominal charge that the Bhakta Niwas charges. Even here there is a very holy and pious atmosphere where even the room attendents do not accept any kind of tips that is usually associated in normal hotels. The Bhakta Niwas where I was staying had a restaurant offering various dishes.

The Sansthan at Shegaon has not only maintained the temple complex and its surroundings very well but are also involved in various social activities for the welfare of the people. The sansthan has also built a huge park called "Anand Sagar". This has a huge water reservoir, a meditation hall and numerous temples. The great size and the beauty of the place ensures that a person visiting Shegaon should atleast once visit Anand Sagar.

The Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj college offers engineering programs in various disciplines and is one of the very well known colleges in the region.

Overall it has been an excellent trip.
